Bukit Tabur Location of Second Rope

There are two distinct danger zones in Bukit Tabur that is best to take note.

1) Location at First Rope
2) Location at Second Rope

There were at least 4 serious accidents happened in the last 6 months at time of this entry in Bukit Tabur at the First Rope.

We are focusing on Second Rope in the next few postings with aim to provide trekkers with more information and insight on this particular dangerous spot.

( Picture shows the location of second rope when I took photos from Point B )

There is unlimited ways to climb mountains,

The way in this visual is what most trekkers have been trodden on to reach from Point A to Point B safely.

Point A has a rope tied to it. and trekkers normally called this place second rope.

This is a place trekkers normally have their break before proceed on to go to the end of the trail, and go down the the hill via an orchard.

Climbing down using rope is what most trekkers will do.

and passing some smaller rocks after that as shown in the following pictures.

Opposite second rope, is a big piece of rock with height approximately 6-8 Ft depending on where you measure it from.

There is a faint arrow in red showing the direction to trek down the cliff.

We have seen trekkers going up the rock and find no way down at the other side and panic when they try to come down. Indeed it is very dangerous up there.

A safer way to go is keep yourself firm when you move from one rock to the other, move steadily and be aware that the surface of the rock is sharp and uneven.

hold tightly unto the cleft of the rocks, never let your hands slips especially if you are having balancing problem.

lower your centre of gravity, especially for some who has fear of height. sit down if you want and move your butt from the surface of one rock to the other.

try to keep yourself towards the right side where the ( 6-8 ft ) big rock is and slowly manouver yourself down.

best to take turns, going down one by one. There are situation that during week ends traffic is very high,

keep a safe distance from the trekker in front and have the trekker at the back of you keep a distance from you too.

do not rush, chances that if you follow each other too closely, anyone trip over, chances are the trekkers will hit, one by the other.

Please be in mind that there is no emergency lane in this place which you can escape to, except flying up to the sky like the birds if you can or tumbling down the cliff 100-300 meters down if you don't own a pair of wings.

Be focus and calm, taking care of your own safety when you move yourself from one rock to the other.

Even when there is oncoming traffic where another person wants to climb up when you are coming down, be firm and do not rush at all, have the other trekker wait.

There are certain rocks at that particular location which is full of moss, and is very slippery when it rains.

Even if it doesn't rain, always set your footing firm until you reach the ground.

.

So, Just be slow and steady, turn backwards to come down if you feel most comfortable, and move carefully from one rock to another.

This purpose of this posting is to provide new trekker with some visuals so that they will come prepared on the treks.
